Gschneirer Waal

Above Schluderns are two well-preserved Waale, which are a worthwhile destination for hikers. Waal is the name for an artificial water channel, digged into the mountainside to lead the water from the mountains into the valleys to the peasants. Last year I walked the Leitenwaal, 380m above Schluderns. This time I walked the Gschneirer Waal. The ascent was beautiful but exhausting. Climbung 530 vertical meters is no fun. When I got to the top, a big disappointment was waiting for me. The Waal was dry. No water. The annually maintenance work is carried out in spring and the water is not lead into the Waal until May. The hike was still beautiful, even though the relaxing noise of the rushing water was missing. On the way back to Germany I drove over the Pitztal, where I also took some photos.
