Sylvester 2019/20 in Innsbruck
New Year's Eve in the warm living room on the couch or in a tent, on the top of a mountain? Definitely living room! But sometimes you have a crazy buddy who wants to go up the mountain and then you just go with him. In Innsbruck, two cable cars take you to the Hafelekarspitze, 1700m above Innsbruck, 2334 meter in total. From up here we wanted to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks in the valley. My buddy built an igloo on the summit, I chose a compromise between a warm living room and the tent and spent the night in the mountain shelter, 50m below the summit. The view was clear, you had a good view of the city and the fireworks. Later ground fog came up, the rockets exploding under the fog cover were a special spectacle. For the exertions of the night we were rewarded with bright sunshine on New Year's morning. Beautiful! On the way back I made a short stop at Fernsteinsee. That was a great trip, but I was looking forward to my couch after all.
Sylvester im warmen Wohnzimmer auf der Couch oder im Zelt, auf der Spitze eines Berges? Definitiv Wohnzimmer! Aber manchmal hat man einen verrückten Kumpel, der unbedingt auf den Berg will und dann geht man halt mit. In Innsbruck kommt man über zwei Drahtseilbahnen auf die Hafelekarspitze, 1700m über Innsbruck, 2334m Meereshöhe. Von hier oben wollten wir das Sylvesterfeuerwerk im Tal anschauen. Mein Kumpel baute ein Iglu auf dem Gipfel, ich wählte einen Kompromiss zwischen warmen Wohnzimmer und dem Zelt und nächtigte in der Schutzhütte, 50m unterhalb des Gipfels. Die Sicht war klar, man hatte einen guten Blick auf die Stadt und das Feuerwerk. Später zog Bodennebel auf, die unter der Nebeldecke explodierenden Raketen waren ein besonderes Spektakel. Für die Strapazen der Nacht wurden wir am Neujahrsmorgen mit strahlendem Sonnenschein belohnt. Wunderschön! Auf dem Rückweg machte ich noch einen kurzen Stop am Fernsteinsee. Das war ein toller Ausflug, aber ich habe mich dann doch auf meine Couch gefreut.
