vogalonga
The Vogalonge (long rudder) is a rowing/paddling event that has been held in Venice for over thirty years every Witsun day. Thw Vogalonga originally came from a protest movement, today it's a fun event with up to 1800 man-powered boats swimming in the lagoon. The route stretches for about 34 km and begins and ends at the St. Mark's Square. After a cannon shot at 9 o'clock in the morning, the boats sets in motion. During the Vogalonga, Venice is closed for Motor boats. I've already participated twice in the Vogalonga and I will do it again. It' a lot of fun and you have the opportunity to experience Venice from the waterside.
Die Vogalonga (langes Ruder) ist eine Ruderveranstaltung, die seit über dreißig Jahren jeden Pfingstsonntag in Venedig stattfindet. Die Vogalonga ist ursprünglich aus einer Protestbewegung heraus entstanden, heute ist es eine Spaßveranstaltung bei der sich bis zu 1800 muskelkraftbetriebene Boote in der Lagune tummeln. Die Strecke erstreckt sich über ca. 34 km und beginnt und endet am Markusplatz. Nach einem Kanonenschuss um 9 Uhr morgens setzt sich der Bootskorso in Bewegung. Während der Vogalongs ist Venedig für Motorboote gesperrt. Ich habe schon zweimal an der Vogalonga teilgenommen und werde es wieder tun. Es ist ein riesen Spaß und man hat Gelegenheit Venedig von der Wasserseite zu erleben.
