Beziers 2014
During our trip to France we stayed one week in Beziers. At this time the Feria takes place, a big city festival. The whole city is a party. In the evening, you can
see a flamenco show, watch the street performers, or listening to a band. A big horse show and bull fighting are available. Great cinema! But also during the day, Béziers offers much. The Canal
du MIDI flows in Béziers in the Mediterranean Sea. In Béziers, he is led with a bridge over the river before it overcomes the difference in altitude to sea level on the Nine Locks of Fonseranes.
The river affords romantic views of the Cathedral of Saint Nazaire, further upstream, you can enjoy the views of an old water mill in a beer garden. To cool us down, we drove to a river swimming
spot nearby. Clear, cool water, a romantic river section with sand and large boulders, a paradisal piece of Earth. Further to the west is a small village built on a rock in a ravine. In the
Valley of the river you will find a large cave with small stone towers, a great photo opportunity! The city is beautiful, like everything in France.
Während unseres Frankreichtrips verbrachten wir eine Woche in Beziers. Zu dieser Zeit fand dort die Feria statt, ein großes alljährliches Stadtfest. Die ganze Stadt ist dann eine Party. Abends kann man eine Flamenco Show besuchen, den Straßenkünstlern zuschauen oder einer Band zuhören. Eine große Pferdeshow sowie Stierkampf werden geboten. Ganz großes Kino! Aber auch tagsüber bietet Beziers viel. Der Canal du Midi mündet in Beziers ins Mittelmeer. In Beziers wird er mit einer Brücke über den Fluß geführt bevor er über die neun Schleusen von Fonseranes den Höhenunterschied zum Meereslevel überwindet. Vom Fluß aus hat man einen romantischen Blick auf die Kathedrale Saint Nazaire, weiter flußaufwärts kann man in einem Biergarten den Blick auf eine alte Wassermühle genießen. Um uns abzukühlen fuhren wir zu einer Flußbadestelle in der Nähe. Klares, kühles Wasser, ein romantischer Flußabschnitt mit Sandbänken und großen Felsbrocken, ein paradisisches Stückchen Erde. Weiter westlich liegt ein kleines Dorf, dass auf einem Fels in einer Schlucht erbaut wurde. Im Flusstal findet man eine große Höhle mit kleinen Steintürmchen, ein tolles Fotomotiv! Die Stadt ist schön, wie alles in Frankreich.
