Trier, belgisches Felsenlabyrinth
It's spring, the sun is shining and Rheinland-Pfalz is the first state to relax the Corona restrictions. So we immediately saw what there is to see there and packed the motorcycle. Trier, the Belgian Rock Labyrinth, the Devil's Gorge, Saarburg and the Volcanic Eifel were on the list.
Es ist Frühjahr, die Sonne scheint und Rheinland-Pfalz lockert als erstes Bundesland die Corona-Beschränkungen. Also gleich geschaut, was es dort zu sehen gibt und das Motorrad gepackt. Trier, das Belgische Felsenlabyrinth, die Teufelsschlucht, Saarburg und die Vulkaneifel standen auf dem Programm.
Trier
In Trier I took a hotel for three days. Trier, the birthplace of Karl Marx, is best known for the Porta Nigra, a well-preserved city gate from Roman times. Trier was a good base for my day trips.
In Trier nahm ich für drei Tage ein Hotel. Trier, die Geburtsstadt von Karl Marx ist vor allem für die Porta Nigra bekannt, einem gut
erhaltenen Stadttor aus der Römerzeit. Trier war eine gute Basis für meine Tagestouren.
Belgien, Felsenlabyrinth
The Belgian Rock Maze, as part of the Muller Trail, is a beautiful spot of nature. Over time, the rocks break into pieces and drift apart, forming narrow paths between the towering cliffs. It is an ideal place for hikers and climbers. The 20km hike was exhausting, but worth it.
Das Belgische Felsenlabyrinth als Teil des Muller Trails ist ein schönes Fleckchen Natur. Im Laufe der Zeit brechen die Felsen in
Stücke und driften auseinander, so dass sich schmale Wege zwischen den hochaufragenden Felsen bilden. Ein idealer Platz für Wanderer und Kletterer. Die Wanderung über 20km war anstrengend, hat
sich aber gelohnt.
Teufelsschlucht
The Devil's Gorge on the German side is similar to the Belgian Rock Labyrinth. For invalids, the Devil's Gorge is more suitable, as the hike is only 5-7km long. Of course I had a look at both, despite advancing age :-) The nature here is also simply breathtaking.
Die Teufelsschlucht auf deutscher Seite ähnelt dem Belgischen Felsenlabyrinth. Für Invaliden ist die Teufelsschlucht besser geeignet, da die Wanderung nur 5-7km lang ist. Natürlich habe ich mir beides angeschaut, trotz fortschreitenden Alters :-) Die Natur ist auch hier einfach atemberaubend.
Saarburg
On the way home, I made a detour to Saarburg, the town with a waterfall in the middle of town. You simply have to have seen that. Likewise, the small town museum with the letter-setting machine. Well, maybe not everyone is interested in that, but if you are interested in technology, you can't miss it. In summer, Saarburg is certainly overrun by tourists and rightly so.
Auf dem Heimweg machte ich einen Abstecher nach Saarburg, der Stadt mit einem Wasserfall mitten in der Stadt. Das muss man einfach gesehen haben. Ebenso das kleine Stadtmuseum mit der Buchstabensetzmaschine. Gut, das interessiert vielleicht nicht jeden, wer aber technisch interessiert ist, kommt daran nicht vorbei. Im Sommer ist Saarburg sicher von Touristen überlaufen und das zu Recht.
