Harz
I had a job-related trip to the Harz Mountains and had to spend the weekend there. This sounds bad now, but I liked to stay, after all, I've never been in the Harz
Mountains. On the weekend I had a full schedule. I wanted to look at the concentration camp memorial center "Mittelbau-Dora", the V2 was installed in the mines there. The IFA museum was also on
my schedule, but unfortunately it was closed. For this I visited Wernigerrode and stopped on the way at the new rope bridge at the Rappbode dam. The next day I went to the Barbarossa monument on
the Kyffhäuser. The street over the Kyffhäuser was once a speed hillclimbing track. Even today the motorcyclists meet to test their skills. Not always with success. Nearby is the panorama museum.
In this you can see a painting by Werner Tübke titled "Early Civil Revolution in Germany", 123 meters long and 14 meters tall. Impressive and only to understand if you book a guide. The evening I
spent in Nordhausen, a beautiful city with good gastronomy. The Harz Mountains is a nice area. Slightly hilly, everywhere small villages with beautiful half-timbered houses. Not for nothing is
the Harz Mountain a popular holiday destination.

Ich war beruflich im Harz und musste das Wochenende dort verbringen. Das klingt jetzt schlimm, aber ich bin gerne geblieben, schließlich war ich noch nie im Harz. Am
Wochenende hatte ich ein volles Programm. Die KZ-Gedenkstätte Mittelbau-Dora wollte ich mir anschauen, in den dortigen Stollen wurde die V2 montiert. Das IFA-Museum wollte ich auch unbedingt
sehen, leider war dieses geschlossen. Dafür besuchte ich Wernigerrode und habe auf dem Weg die neue Hängeseilbrücke an der Rappbode-Talsperre angeschaut. Am nächsten Tag fuhr ich auf den
Kyffhäuser zum Barbarossa Denkmal. Die Straße über den Kyffhäuser war ehemals eine Bergrennstrecke. Noch heute treffen sich die Motorradfahrer dort um ihr Können zu testen. Nicht immer mit
Erfolg. In der Nähe befindet sich das Panoramamuseum. In diesem sieht man ein 123 Meter langes und 14 Meter hohes Gemälde von Werner Tübke mit dem Titel "Frühbürgerliche Revolution in
Deutschland". Beeindruckend und nur zu verstehen wenn man eine Führung bucht. Den Abend verbrachte ich in Nordhausen, eine schöne Stadt mit guter Gastronomie. Der Harz ist eine schöne Gegend.
Leicht hügelig, überall kleine Dörfer mit schönen Fachwerkhäusern. Nicht umsonst ist der Harz ein beliebtes Urlaubsziel.
